Running the Meeting

January 30th, 2010

This afternoon, I had a meeting of the board of trustees of the small school that I attended 50 years ago. I’m back on the board after serving for six years and then being off for a year. When I came back on the board, my title included “1st Vice President” with the understanding that I would be the board president in two years, serving through the school’s centennial celebration. It makes sense to have a graduate of the school in that position during that anniversary time. But imagine my surprise when I walked into the meeting this afternoon and my tent card was at the head of the table, along with the gavel. Hmmm. It turns out that the current board president is out of the country and I was going to run the meeting. No problem, I’ve run meetings before. I can do this. The meeting started off by everyone going out on the back porch to hear the new drum ensemble playing in the patio. That was good. Then we went back into the board room, approved the minutes, followed the agenda, had the committee reports, discussed a new exciting issue and adjourned. Except for me trying to inject a little humor that fell flat, everything went smoothly. It’s good practice.

Easy and Tasty

January 27th, 2010

Last night I had an amazing meal of Macaroni with Hamburger. With this I also had bread, mandarin oranges and milk. It is one of my favorite meals. I used whole wheat bread for the whole grain benefits. Skim milk so it is low in fat. I also bought the sugar free syrup for my mandarin oranges. You use basic elbow macaroni with combined Velveeta and milk. It makes a lot so there is also enough for left-overs. I would definitely recommend looking up the recipe for this so you can try it yourself. Thank you very much for reading!

Sports for spare time

January 22nd, 2010

I just love sports. Not just to play it, but also to watch it. Sports like Cricket, Football, and Tennis are my favorite. Whenever I get some spare time I would love to play cricket or football. But since it is a team game often I end up where there won’t be enough people to play the game. In that case I would prefer to watch sports on television. I don’t mind even if it is not a live match. I just love watching these sports for hours together. Its great fun and also you get to learn a lot from it as a sports person.

My pet dog Tippu

January 21st, 2010

My dog Tippu is of German Shepard breed. I bought it from a Kennel club of our place. German Shepherd is a working dog developed originally for herding sheep. Because of their strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training they are often employed as police dogs and war dogs, around the world. Due to their loyal and protective nature, the German Shepherd is one of the most popular breeds. They are considered to be the third most intelligent breed of dog, behind Border Collies and Poodles. My dog Tippu is very passionate to children s. I use to play with him. The main problem faced by my dog is infection to its ears. My dog is also suffering from disease named elbow dysplasia. So I keep my dog in orthopedic dog bed. Orthopedic dog beds provide comfort to my disabled dog. Our orthopedic dog beds come with removable, machine washable covers so you can make easy clean up of any accidents. German Shepard is of variety of colors. My dog is of tan/black color. The German Shepherd will do okay in an apartment if sufficiently exercised. They are relatively inactive indoors and do best with at least a large yard. I brush my dog daily. Bathing is made only when ever is needed. German Shepherds are one of the smartest and most trainable breeds.
