Ending the Week with Sun and Surf

December 30th, 2009

Last week was as uneventful as it gets. Wake up in the morning, drop off the baby, go to work, pick up the baby, do groceries, eat dinner and go to sleep. That’s the usual doldrums routine of the workweek. However, the weekend seemed more promising. My husband’s sister was in town visiting for a legal conference. She lives in McLean, Virginia, and makes somewhat frequent trips down to Florida, probably every 3-4 months. We always see each other for holidays but she sprinkles in a trip or two before the fall to visit family. The last time we saw her was in May when she came down for my mother-in-law’s birthday and to visit our newborn son. At the time, he was 4 months old.

A Truly Horrific Dinner

December 28th, 2009

My mother would be mortified if she knew what I ate for dinner last night. I ate the second half of a frozen pizza I had eaten the first half of the night before. This Tombstone Supreme Pizza was purchased at the local QFC only because it was the cheapest food (as in cents per pound). It was on sale for $2.50 and at about 23 ounces, it was the best thing for me to buy considering the circumstances. I washed this down with chugs from a 2-liter bottle of my grocery store’s generic Mountain Dew, which is called Citrus Drop. Because I didn’t feel full enough after eating my pizza and drinking my Citrus Drop, I ate three Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies, none of which were good.

Help the church promote the truth

December 25th, 2009

Confessions not only help the church promote the truth without, but to educate within.  The very reason that the Heidelberg Catechism was written was to assist in the educating of those within the church of Jesus Christ, so that faith would not move from shallowness to superstition, but to growth in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
