My newest faveorite hobby is knitting, especially sweaters and blankets for my loved ones. Although they often do not come out exatly like I had planned, they are always sewn with lots of love, which seems to keep everyone a little warmer! My latest project was a fishermans sweater for my husband, and although the sleeves aren’t quite the same length, I tend to think it looks ravishing on him! I also attempted an afghan blanket a few months back, which is coming along nicely, though right now it’s only about two feet long and three feet wide!

Me and My Knitting Needles!
October 20th, 2009I Have Conquered a Frying Pan!
October 16th, 2009Last week when my husband got home from a decidedly long day at work, I thought that I might try to whip up a new dish to try and help banish his stress. His favorite recipe is fried pork chops with country style gravy, something that he only gets when we go out to eat as I am what they call ‘cooking challenged’. Well, I figured I might as well learn something new and so found an old frying pan, looked up a recipe online, and slapped that pork chop into a nice batter! It worked! Along with peas right out of garden, and a nice salad, it was a wonderful meal!

Fall Is Here!
October 11th, 2009My favorite season is Fall, or Autumn as some people prefer to call it. The smell of the leaves on a crisp autumn morning is one of my favorite smells in the world. I enjoy going up to the Blue Ridge Mountains on a cool Saturday morning with my four children, and spending the day picking apples and drinking cider, or, if I am feeling a little extravagant, a nice glass of apple wine! The crispness of the air makes my little ones cheeks glowing and pink, and I love to see them in their tiny sweaters, helping each other to pick the apples highest up on the trees.
Today I Stopped Smoking!
October 8th, 2009I decided a few months back that smoking was taking its toll on my health and picked today as my quit date. It is the anniversary of the date that my sister died of lung cancer, so obviously it is an important occasion. I woke up this morning nervous, but had prepared for that, fortunately. Instead of my morning cigarette, I went for a very long walk and thought about how much better my life will be without cigarettes. Although I am still worried that I will have cravings, I have come to believe that I can do anything so long as I have my sisters spirit with me.
